Gastronomy is one of the big bets of the MED Festival organization. With the mission of blending cultures, it seeks to take festival visitors to other places, traditions and flavours. Therefore gastronomy plays a major role in this journey through the senses. From Portugal to Greece, across Spain or Morocco, there are several countries whose gastronomy has a seat saved at the MED Festival. But on this 13th edition, the highlight will be the Mediterranean Diet. The Open MED (free entry day) on Sunday, July 3rd, will be entirely dedicated to gastronomy and the flavours and culture of the Mediterranean Basin, awarded in 2013 as Intangible Heritage of Humanity, a recognition toward which the Algarve region also contributed. The food courts will thus have special menus, with creations based on typical Mediterranean ingredients.
